Pria itu, Cha Song Joo, dulu mempunyai seorang teman yang sangat dekat bernama Han Jung Su. Apalagi ketika ayah Song Joo dan ibu Jung su meninggal, hubungan mereka semakin akrab. Baik Jung Su atau pun Song Joo selalu hadir untuk saling menguatkan, sehingga duka mereka tidak berlarut-larut. Seiring berjalannya waktu, perasaan keduanya berkembang. Tanpa perlu diungkapkan, perasaan keduanya sudah terlihat jelas. Kehidupan mereka pun tetap berjalan dengan baik dan bahagia. Sayangnya, kehidupan Jung Su berubah seketika sejak sang ayah menikah dengan aktris terkenal, Tae Mira Lee Hwi Hyang. Tae Mira masuk ke keluarga Han dengan membawa dua anak, Yoo Ri Park Jimi/Kim Tae Hee dan Tae Hwa Lee Wan/Shin Hyun Joon. Ia memang bersama Tae Hwa yang melindunginya, namun ia tetap tidak bisa jatuh cinta. Ingatan terdalamnya masih menyimpan kenangan tentang Song Joo sampai akhirnya mereka bertemu kembali. Kisah berlanjut dengan Song Joo dan Jung Su yang menikah. Tapi kebahagiaan mereka tidak bertahan lama. Jung Su didiagnosis menderita kanker mata sehingga ia kehilangan penglihatannya. Sel kanker terlanjur menyebar dan meskipun ia menerima donor mata dari Tae Hwa, umurnya tidak lebih panjang. Selang beberapa bulan setelah menikah, Jung Soo menutup mata. Konsisten dengan Kisah Sedih Cerita sepanjang 20 episode ini isinya adalah kesengsaraan bagi Jung Su. Meskipun ia diberi akhir yang bahagia dapat menikah dengan Song Joo, namun itu hanya beberapa saat. Sebelum mendapat kebahagiaan itu, ia mengalami banyak kehilangan. Seolah tidak cukup dengan kematian sang ibu, rentetan kisah sedih membuat Jung Su seolah tidak bersahabat dengan bahagia.
